
Slowly making it look like actual people live here and it feels nice.

Painted the island black, added some new stools and last night Joseph mounted new pendant lights to tie the colors and textures together. (Scroll down to see the before and after.)

We have future plans to remove the cabinets on either side of the stovetop range and add open shelves, but we’re planning to focus on some other rooms in the house first.

When we first built this home, it was hard not to go out and buy all the things and hang up decor on the walls right away, but I’m glad we followed our gut to wait and really live in our new space for a while. We’ve been able to see what is missing and what we envision, budget and shop smart, and add to it a little at a time.

It may take us 5-10 years to design all of the rooms the way we like, but that’s okay with us. .
