Yesterday I was accidentally an hour early for my physical therapy appointment and immediately I felt so much guilt. Guilty that Joseph had worked from home, guilty that he’d have to take more time out of his work day to hang out with Wyatt, guilty of my to-do list that I could have tackled a good portion of with that extra hour, and guilty that I’d now be spending money to pick up lunch instead of eating at home.
Then a sweet friend reminded me that sometimes these “mistakes” happen because we don’t realize the last time we had 60 minutes to ourselves to just be. To throw away the busy and for 60 minutes take a deep breath because everything else is taken care of.
And in a funny way God so loudly tells you to, “Stop glorifying busy, stop and look around you, and stop feeling so guilty all of the time.” So yesterday, I spent 60 minutes at a new coffee shop, put my phone away, read a few section of the New York Times, and stopped feeling so darn guilty. What a glorious thing!
