I asked my almost four-year-old, “What is love?” fully expecting his answer to be something silly or simple. His answer?
“It’s something inside you that feels really good, like Christmas!”
I felt my heart slowly move to my throat and I looked him in the eyes and said, “You are 100% right, buddy.”
I’ve always enjoyed the cute little Mothers and Fathers Day questions to ask kids about what Mom’s favorite color is or what Dad’s job is, have you done those before? I searched for a Valentine’s Day option this year, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I decided to create me own! Something simple and fun that little ones could answer, or one that older kids could fill out themselves.
I tried to come up with light-hearted and easier questions mixed with more thoughtful and heartfelt questions. I’ve also decided to share it as a printable, if you’d like to do it with your kids! The top right corner also has space for them to draw a picture to go with it.
The questions are on an 8×10 print that can be downloaded, printed (in red or black text), framed and given as a sweet gift, especially if you’re looking for a non-candy Valentine’s Day gift option.

These are my favorites that my son answered:
What does love feel like? “Hugs.”
What are some things you love to do? “Baking cupcakes and mowing the lawn.”
How do you show someone you love them? “You rub and scratch their back.”
When is it okay to kiss someone? “After you ask them and they say yes.”
Who do you love the most? “Mama and Dada and Willow and MYSELF and everybody in the big whole world!”
If you go through this printable with your little ones, please share your favorite cute and hilarious answers in the comments below!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
xo,
Kathleen
